| Information | The Alpine Snow Sports Academy is in partnership with the SD22 online school vLearn. Applicants to this program need to be a current member of the Vernon Ski Club enrolled in 2nd year of U14 or older programming. Academy fees and programming is in addition to club fees and programming. Our academy program focuses Alpine Ski race training on the “Train to Train” phase of Long Term Athlete Development. In this phase, training becomes more structured and aimed at improving strength, stamina, speed, skill, and flexibility. Athletes are introduced to physical testing and are encouraged to be more accountable in all areas of physical preparation. Snow Sports Academy – Alpine Information VIDEO
Highlights Several of our athletes have achieved podium results at the provincial level and aim to achieve selection to the provincial team. Others simply want to become better skiers and better athletes. Some of our athletes are seeking the skills required to become a ski-pro (coach or instructor). |

| Academy Grades | Grades 8 - 12 |
| Academy Location | SilverStar Mountain Resort and various local Dryland Training Facilities including indoor and outdoor facilities. |

In the Spring and Fall, when there is no on-snow training, athletes will be provided with strength training opportunities for overall fitness, as well as study blocks. A schedule will be provided to families to support planning. When ski conditions permit, students will commence on-snow training every Thursday and Friday at SilverStar Mountain Resort until the end of the season. Winter Training and competition dates will mean that Academy students will not be able to attend all of their scheduled face-to-face school sessions. Students will be expected to manage their own missed class time by communicating proactively with teachers. |
