Unfortunately, Hillview Elementary will be closed for the day on Wednesday November 19th (this week), so there will be no school for students that day.
The School District was notified this afternoon by Greater Vernon Water (RDNO) that there will be no water to the school on Wednesday due to an urgently needed water main repair (Greater Vernon Water – Water Outage and Boil Water Notice – Parts of East Hill and South Bx (See Map) and Essential Use Only - Parts of Old Kamloops Rd, Stepping Stones, North BX, Foothills, South BX, and Parts of Coldstream (See Map) | Regional District of North Okanagan)
This will, no doubt, cause families some disruption and challenge. Closing a school at such short notice is not something we do lightly. Thank-you to our Hillview families for their patience and understanding as we navigate this unfortunate circumstance.
The repair is scheduled to be complete by 7.00am on Thursday morning and so we expect school to be open as normal on Thursday. District staff are communicating closely with RDNO, who are completing the repair.
The school will be on a boil water advisory for a few days after re-opening. We will ensure there is sufficient bottled drinking water available for students.
