Disposal
The Board of Education is considering disposing of two properties with a combined size of 6.8 acres in the Bella Vista neighbourhood.
The site is within a four kilometre radius of four other SD22 sites:
- 3.4km away from the undeveloped 5.8-acre Heritage Park, which is owned by the Board.
- 4.0km away from Okanagan Landing Elementary.
- 3.0km away from Ellison Elementary and Fulton Secondary.
The long-range facilities plan anticipates that nearby schools Ellison Elementary, Okanagan Landing Elementary and Fulton Secondary have sufficient capacity to accommodate projected enrolment for the foreseeable future. Additionally, the undeveloped Heritage Park site remains available should forecasts change and another school site is needed.
Although there continues to be residential development in the area, the school age population is declining due to low birth rates offsetting any increase from families moving to the area.
